Firefighter James Rice was remembered today as a “truly heroic’’ man whose death has left a “giant hole’’ in the hearts of his family and his fellow firefighters here in the city I live. Peabody, MA.
I usually don’t post journalistic pictures, and yes, I didn’t know Mr. Rice, but I was moved by the story of this man who died heroically while battling a fire at Hancock Street on Friday, December 23, two days before Christmas! It happened here; in the city I live and on a place I drive by often. God forbid it could be my house. I was moved and shocked by the thought of it. And thankful for the Fire Department service as I believe so many are today.
This morning I had the honor of getting a glimpse of the city beautifully paying tribute to him, “Jim Rice”, who died serving. A loving husband and devoted father described as a man with “character, courage and inner strength”, who was proud to be a firefighter.
Let’s pray that the Lord brings comfort to the family. I’m sure he will be dearly missed. He left three kids which breaks my heart and makes me wish I could help somehow, so I use these images as my homage. Also, let’s together always remember to thank God for men and women that, like James Rice have the courage to save lives everyday.
May God bless you all.
GOD BLESS AMERICA.
